At U.S. Silver, a professional management team with many years of operating experience strives to create not only a safe work place, but a work place that is sensitive to the local environment. Our operations in beautiful Northern Idaho allow us to live and work in a place that affords us the opportunity for endless outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing and many others. It is our responsibility to protect the environment that we enjoy on a daily basis; a responsibility we take seriously.
U.S. Silver is committed to complying with all local, state, and federal regulations through a management pledge of the necessary resources for continuous improvement. With internal audits, state and federal inspections, and employee participation, U.S. Silver has developed a set of practices and procedures that will protect our environment now and into the future.
With the successful implementation of the goals and objectives of our environmental policy, U.S. Silver enjoys a history of regulatory compliance. Some of the highlights of this accomplishment include:
- No exceedances of NPDES permit conditions,
- No Notice of Violation from any regulatory agency,
- Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator status -- Hazardous Waste, and
- Title V Minor Source status -- Air Quality.
In addition to the achievements stated above, U.S. Silver has concurrently reclaimed as much disturbed land as possible during the operation phase of the project. Three of the six tailings impoundment cells used for the operation have been successfully reclaimed without using funds set aside with the Idaho Department of Water resources for reclamation purposes.
